چکیده

The adsorption of basic dyes from aqueous solutions onto granular activated carbon and natural zeolite was studied using a fixed bed column. The design procedures for fixed bed adsorption columns were investigated for two basic dyes Maxilon Goldgelb GL EC 400 % (MG-400) and Maxilon Schwarz FBL-01 300 % (MS-300). A computer program based on the solid diffusion control model has been developed. The model parameters: solid diffusion coefficient, DS, axial dispersion coefficient, DL and external mass transfer coefficient, kf for all the investigated systems were estimated by means of a best fit approach.

Experimental Study and Adsorption Modeling of COD Reduction by Activated Carbon for Wastewater Treatment of Oil Refinery

Application of Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) in adsorption process has been studied for the advanced treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater. Because of entering poisonous compounds such as furfural, phenol and sulfides into the oily wastewater of Tehran refinery, biological aeration basins of wastewater treatment unit may not have the desired performance of COD reductio...

Modeling studies for adsorption of phenol and co-pollutants onto granular activated carbon prepared from olive oil industrial waste

Granular activated carbon (OSAC) which was derived from olive oil industrial solid waste was chemically activated with different concentrations of phosphoric acid. OSAC-materials were evaluated for their ability to remove phenol from aqueous solution in a batch technique. Adsorption isotherms were determined and modeled with five linear Langmuir forms, namely the Freundlich, Elovich, Temkin, Ki...

Ultrasonic Assisted Adsorption of Basic Dyes from Binary Component Systems onto ZnO Nanoparticles Loaded on Activated Carbon Derived from Almond Shell: Optimization by Central Composite Design

In this study, ZnO nanoparticles were loaded on activated carbon prepared from almond shell (ZnO-NP-AC). Then, this novel material applied as an efficient adsorbent for the ultrasonic assisted simultaneous removal of Basic Blue 41(BB41) and Basic Red 46 (BR46) in binary solution.  The efficiency of proposed activated carbon was enhanced by acid treatment and subsequent modification by physical ...

Investigation of effective parameters on adsorption of amoxicillin from aqueous medium onto activated carbon

In this study, the adsorption of amoxicillin onto activated carbon was investigated. The effect of particle size and the effluent flow rate was discussed as well as the kinetics and isotherm of adsorption equilibrium. The isotherm equilibrium studies showed that the Langmuir model was appropriate for describing the adsorption equilibrium of amoxicillin onto the activated carbon. Furthermore, th...

Removal of copper (II) from aqueous solutions by adsorption onto granular activated carbon in the presence of competitor ions

In this work, the removal of copper from an aqueous solution by granular activated carbon (GAC) in the presence of competitor ions was studied. A batch adsorption was carried out and different parameters such as pH, contact time, initial copper concentration and competitor ions concentration were changed to determine the optimum conditions for adsorption. The optimum pH required for maximum ads...
